Washington Health is a new program offered by Basic Health. It is another option for affordable and reliable health insurance with fewer restrictions and low costs. Anyone who lives in Washington may qualify for this unique program that offers multiple levels of health insurance coverage. Members maintain low deductibles with coverage for basic health services such as routine office visits, immunizations, preventive screenings and more.
DSHS has changed to a new payment system called Provider One. As of May 2010, clients will be issued a permanent Services Card. These plastic cards are mailed to clients and replace the paper medical coupon. The Services Card is free to clients and will be used much like other insurance industry cards.

Changes to the Alien Emergency Medical Program
The Alien Emergency Medical (AEM) program is for non-citizens who: have a qualifying emergent medical condition; would be eligible for Medicaid if he/she were a citizen; and are ineligible for a full-scope Medicaid program due to immigrant status. Beginning November 1, 2009, the scope of coverage for medical services for non-citizens will significantly change to comply with federal law and a state legislative mandate. Learn more about AEM.
These AEM changes do not apply to non-citizen pregnant women and children. Pregnant women and children, regardless of citizenship or immigration status, should continue to apply for Medicaid services through the state-sponsored First Steps and Apple Health for Kids programs.
